Training talks and courses

Over time MediaLab has been involved inpreparing and delivering a variety of training courses and talks about subject areas where Media, design, and communication interact.

Currently active training content includes:

  • Museum Design Talk
2.5hour talk and workshop designed in response to a support request from course organiser for the module 'Science, Museums and the Public' (BL4291)

  • Video Production Course
A two day (8 hour) training package introducing basic technical skills relating to video production.

  • Video Production +
A version of the two day production training package, with the addition of an introduction to subject-specific documentary programme making. The subject-specific documentary talk precedes technical training and gives context to course participants planning on working on documentary programme projects in the subject area. Input from a departmental academic who is a subject specialist is required to prepare and deliver this introductory talk.
  • Academics and The Media
Medialab made the video materials for this course given by Staff Development, and these are now available online.

  • Video Slide Course
An intensive one day course developed as part of an Art History and Italian Department (Modern Languages) project to explore the idea of making and using 'video slides'. Participants may also find some of the resources of the two-day video production course listed above of interest.
